These days, I have been a bit home sick for my asawa (wife) and my family in the Philippines.

When I first came back to the United States of America I never dreamed that I was going to end up being an OFW .

For those of you who don’t know, an OFW is an Overseas Foreign Worker. Unfortunately the Philippines exports manpower to other countries, this leads to a certain amount of “brain drain” back home as only the best and brightest are chosen for overseas work. A contract for a worker is generally one year but can last longer. It is an opportunity for those chosen to make a better life for themselves and their families as they can make far more money being an OFW than they can working back home in the Philippines. The bad side of it is that many do not see their wives and families for long periods of time.

The sacrifices of OFW cannot be avoided as they need to struggle to fulfill their dreams and to achieve success in life. Those hardships and sacrifices should bear good fruits rather than withered tree.

So I'm OFW these days to my asawa (wife) and my family in the Philippines!
I'm an American born in United States of America.

Here comes the end again!

Tomorrow, I fly home to United States of America. I can’t believe my time here in Philippines has come to an end. It has flown by, but we have had the most awesome time with each other. Every time I see my asawa (wife), it makes me a little more sad that she can't come with me - or vice versa or I can't stay here with her. I hope another year does not have to pass until my next visit home to see my family.

Today I cried a silent tear! My asawa (wife) is most special and wonderful woman on Earth too me! I don't want to be apart from her! Mamahalin ko siya magpakailanman. (I will always love her.)
